Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) was a French composer, organist, pianist and teacher. He was one of the foremost French composers of his generation, and his musical style influenced many 20th-century composers. Among his best-known works are his Pavane, Requiem, Sicilienne, nocturnes for piano and the songs ‘Après un rêve’ and ‘Clair de lune’.

See Google article for further details: Pavane

A tuneful piece for small bands or training ensembles requiring flexible instrumentation to suit their needs.

This flexible six-part arrangement for a variety of instruments has been transposed to G minor from the original of F sharp minor for small orchestra.

Thoughout, there are parts for instruments in C, B♭, E♭, and (where applicable) F, some being in high as well as low notation. Evidently, some instruments will be less suitable than others, depending on the configuration. The recommended ensemble is noted in the score.
